TASK1
1. What do you think about the fact that robots finish so many tasks for human beings. Is it a good thing? Please give your answers with specific reasons and details.
Well personally speaking, I do not think it is a good thing for us. first off, even though robots are capable of doing things, like washing the dishes or taking the garbage out, but they may not understand people, so when they are finishing the tasks, they are just following the programs. Secondly, robots are so expensive and not affordable, especially in some developing countries like China or India,so when people can always rely on the robots but they are too expensive for people to afford, the life efficiency will be decreased. So, that is why I think it is not a good thing.
2. Which of the following do you think is the most important for maintaining good health? Doing exercises, eating healthy food, or going to bed early?
I would say doing exercises is most important for maintaining good health. Especially aerobics like swimming, jogging, and even do some running on a treadmill, it helps your cardiovascular system. When you sweat a lot, it helps your system to get rid of the poisonous stuff within your body. Secondly, by doing exercise, you can burn lots of fat in your body, and you do not have to say to delicious food and snacks, like ice cream, hamburgers and stuff like that.
3. Describe what your life would be like if you were banned from using your cellphone for a month. Give specific details and examples in your response.
In daily life, cell phones are scheduling and communication devices. Without them,we would be total wrecks. Apps like calendars, notes and alarms are responsible for reminding people of important dates and events, or waking them up in the morning.
However, living without cell phones can also have some benefits. Phones overschedule and over regiment our lives, which robs us of opportunities. Without them, we don’t feel compelled to check our phones every minute. We can once again simply live in and enjoy the moment.
4. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of letting students evaluate their professor at the end of the semester.
I can’t agree more with the statement. First off, such evaluation can help the professors reflect on their work. Considering the diverse characteristics of students and the changing education backgrounds, in order to cater to all the students, the professor is supposed to update their teaching style regularly. The evaluation from the students provides the professor with the opportunity to examine whether their teaching methodology is suitable for most of the students. Like is there some knowledge to be put much more emphasis? Afterwards, the professor can definitely improve.
5. When having class discussion, some people prefer to give their opinions immediately. Others prefer to wait and listen to others’ opinions before giving their own. Which one do you think is better?
I prefer to give my opinions immediately. For one thing, my opinions shouldn’t be influenced by others. Towards one event, whether right or not, whether reasonable or not, whether acceptable or not, I have my own opinions. I don’t need to follow others’ ideas. For another thing, first expressing may give me the advantage. When having class discussion, if always listening to others first, other people may be likely to say what I would like to say next. When it comes to me, I may have nothing to say or have to repeat others. Sometimes I may feel uncomfortable.
6. What do you think is the most effective way to find a job?
I think the most effective way is to rely on the social network. There are some reasons involved in the method. First of all, people I have spent time with may have a better comprehension of my pros and cons. And in the recommendation of the proper vacancy, they will have a greater chance to convince the HR meet me rather than ordinary job hunters. Moreover, people who are willing to find me a job are those who concern me. As long as my families and friends are willing to find me a proper position, they are more reliable than job-hunting agencies.
7. What kinds of effects would there be if mobile phones were forbidden in school?
Well, honestly I don't think it is a good idea to ban cell phone in school. I actually depend on cell phone to connect with my friends. You know, I use lots of social network apps like wechat, twitter, and facebook to update what is going on with my life and send messages to my friends. These social networks bring me and my friends closer. Additionally, without a cell phone, I cannot get hold of my friends and families in case of an emergency and that can be disastrous. So I guess it will be a lot inconvenient without cell phone.
8. Describe the differences between two cities that you have visited before. Give details and examples to support your response.
Though New York and Paris are both world-famous cultural centers for their respective regions, there are some big differences between them. For one thing, building heights differ dramatically between the two. New York is famous for its sprawling skyline, but in Paris, a building's height is officially limited according to the street it borders--this gives you a good view of the sky no matter where you are. Life also seems more leisurely in Paris; while in New York you have people jogging in place at stoplights, in Paris someone is more apt to break out a cigarette.
