Tech giant Baidu Inc and self-driving startup Pony1.ai are the first pair of enterprises granted permission to offer paid services and provide up to 100 self-driving vehicles for commercial pilot services within an area of 60 square kilometers in the Beijing Economic and Technological2 Development Zone.

　　Autonomous3 driving service providers can adopt market-based pricing mechanisms4 and charge for their services after clarifying fee policies and payment methods to passengers.

　　企业可采取市场化定价机制。同时，在向乘客明确收费原则、支付方式等信息前提下，方可开启体验收费服务。

　　据央视新闻报道，当前试点服务的上下车环节需由乘客走到固定上下车站点(pick-up and drop-off points)，而非自己随意设置。试点服务的整体定价，参考了专车和网约车的定价机制(pricing is similar to the level of premium5 ride-hailing services)，并且初期优惠力度会非常大。

　　截至目前，北京自动驾驶累计安全测试里程接近300万公里。商业化试点(pilot run)是自动驾驶应用场景落地(commercial deployment6 of autonomous driving service)的最终环节，进而形成产业闭环。

　　安全可控是开展商业化试点活动的最重要的基本原则。

　　此次管理政策要求，

　　申请主体全面遵守和落实国家相关法律法规，加强对个人信息和网络数据安全保护;
