Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging satellite

　　China plans to launch a new Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging satellite for monitoring Arctic shipping routes. The new satellite will be jointly developed by scientists from Guangzhou-based Sun Yat-sen University and the China Academy of Space Technology.

　　The satellite has been designed to be put in a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 720 km and to generate high-quality SAR satellite imagery with 50-meter resolution and 300 km width.

　　中国计划发射一颗新的合成孔径雷达(SAR)成像卫星，用于监测北极航道。该卫星将由广州中山大学和中国空间技术研究院的科学家联合研制。

　　新的合成孔径雷达成像卫星设计运行于720公里高度的晨昏太阳同步轨道，可以生成分辨率达50米、幅宽达300公里的高质量合成孔径雷达卫星图像。
