space optical observatory

　　Construction has begun on a science center led by the Sun Yat-sen University, with the aim to boost astronomy research in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

　　The center is a part of a project known as the Chinese Space Station Telescope (CSST), which is scheduled to be launched into a low-Earth orbit in 2024. The telescope will function as a space optical observatory for Chinese scientists to carry out sky surveys.

　　一所由中山大学主导的科学中心开始动工建设，旨在促进粤港澳大湾区天文学研究的发展。

　　该科学中心是中国空间站工程巡天望远镜(简称CSST)项目的组成部分。CSST计划于2024年发射进入近地轨道，将为中国科学家开展天空勘测提供一个空间光学天文台。
