　　2.illegible adj.难以辨认的，(字迹)模糊的

　　3.contrary adj.相反的，相对的，对抗的 n.反面

　　on the contrary I don't think it is boring. On the contrary, I like this kind of movie.

　　【用】contrary的常用短语搭配：①contrary to(与…相反);②to the contrary(反对，与此相反)。

　　4.lest conj.唯恐，以免

　　【例】I tiptoed to the door lest my grandma should wake.

　　我踮起脚走到门口以免吵醒奶奶。

　　【用】注意lest所连接的状语从句里常用should或原形动词，另外lest用在fear，be afraid等词之后等同于that，只起连接作用，无实际意义。

　　5.testify v.作证，证实;表明，证明

　　【记】联想记忆：rest(证明)+ify--证明

　　【例】A local doctor testified that about 20 percent of women died of dystocia.

　　当地的一位医生证实，大约有20%的女性死于难产。
